Hill Group has been awarded planning permission for its Colindale regeneration plans after winning a residents’ ballot.
The redevelopment of Douglas Bader Park, a 1970s estate in north-west London, will provide more than 750 homes in partnership with housing provider Home Group.
The 10-year programme will start imminently with the delivery of the first phase of 38 affordable homes.
Hill Group’s chief executive, Andy Hill, said: “As one of the schemes to be balloted under Sadiq Khan’s mandate to allow residents a vote on estate regeneration, achieving planning success for the Douglas Bader Park estate is a significant achievement.”
Home’s executive director of development, Will Gardner, added: “Having listened and consulted with customers throughout the planning process we can be confident that this development has the full backing of the local community. We will engage throughout the lifetime of the development to ensure the regeneration of Douglas Bader Park benefits everybody.”
Designed by Levitt Bernstein, the 9.6-acre site will create a green neighbourhood centred on a new urban square. The homes will have balconies, roof terraces and courtyards, exceeding the green space requirements of the London Plan.
Construction will take place in three phases and will involve demolishing all the existing homes. In total, 272 affordable units will be delivered alongside 481 homes for private sale.
