Hilton appoints UK & Ireland development team vice president

Hilton has appointed Paul Blackmore as vice president for its UK & Ireland development team, effective from July.

In his new role, Blackmore will report to Nick Smart, who leads Hilton’s development across the UK&I and Nordics. He brings more than 20 years’ experience in hotel development.

Blackmore joined the company eight years ago to lead the architecture, design and construction team in Sub-Saharan Africa. Most recently he served as vice president, AD&C, Europe, Turkey and North Africa and before that he completed three years based in Singapore overseeing the team in Asia Pacific.

In the past, Blackmore has also served as the former managing director of CIMC Modular Building Solutions, earning experience in modular construction, adaptive re-use and hotel conversions.

The appointment comes at a time of strong momentum in the UK&I market and as Hilton looks to expand its hotel pipeline in the region. Hilton has more than 200 operating and pipeline hotels in the UK&I. Blackmore will be responsible for driving further growth.

He said, “It’s an incredibly exciting time for hotel development in the UK&I region. Hilton has had a presence here for more than 60 years, and there is huge potential for us to further grow our portfolio here, bringing new brands to new locations whilst helping owners to achieve the best possible return on investment for their hotels.”

Nick Smart, vice president development UK, Ireland and the Nordics said: “Paul’s appointment is a sign of our commitment to the UK&I market, a mature market ripe with development opportunity for our portfolio of award-winning brands. Following a successful year last year, we look forward to further building on our momentum, continuing to ensure Hilton is the partner of choice for owners.”
