Hilton International has acquired a site for a 345-room four star hotel at the heart of Morrison Merlin’s £100m Great Northern retail and leisure scheme (above) in central Manchester. The hotel is scheduled for completion by 2002 when the city hosts the Commonwealth Games.
Anthony Hilton, managing director of Hilton UK and Ireland, said the company had been looking for a city centre location in Manchester for some time.
The £45m hotel will stand at the southern end of Deansgate next to a 24-screen AMC multiplex (currently under construction) and the listed Great Northern warehouse, which is being refurbished.
