Damien Hirst, the artist who made his name preserving dead animals in formaldehyde, has spent £40m on a Soho headquarters.
Hirst has bought 40 Beak Street, a former police station where detectives investigated the 1942 killings of Gordon Frederick Cummins, the “Soho Ripper”.
Science (UK), Hirst’s art production company, bought the 27,742 sq ft building from Enstar Capital and Landcap and plans to turn it into his headquarters, studio and art complex.
