HK tycoon plots 1,000 homes at safeguarded wharf site

Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing’s CK Assets is readying plans for a 1,000-home neighbourhood in the next phase of its £1bn Convoys Wharf scheme in Deptford, SE8.

The developer is intending to submit an outline application for 986 homes spanning 826,700 sq ft of space in phase four of the waterside development.

Plans would see CK Assets develop the 5.6-acre site, which includes a safeguarded wharf. The vacant site has not been used for shipping for more than two decades.

Development of plot 21 would include 35,000 sq ft of commercial space and a further 42,800 sq ft of space dedicated to the Lenox charity project, to build and launch a replica of the Lenox naval ship on the wharf. However, the developer is still considering alternatives and likely to bring this part of the site forward in a separate application.

Phase four will be the final phase of the £1bn Convoys Wharf regeneration, which is the largest development in Lewisham.

Designed by Farrells architects, the 43-acre project will provide 3,500 homes in total and more than 600,000 sq ft of commercial space.
