HMRC looks into loophole

HMRC is looking into a tax loophole scheme that architect Zaha Hadid is reported to have used.

The loophole works by wealthy people borrowing money from companies of which they are directors to cut their tax rate to 2%. A spokesman for Hadid said she had taken out the loan to buy a property in the US, and had repaid it with interest within nine months.
