Hollywood Bowl looks to expand as revenue soars

Hollywood Bowl plans to open two sites in the second half of this year as it looks to expand.

The UK’s largest tenpin bowling operator said it was looking to expand after raising record revenue as Covid restrictions ended. Revenue  for its first half was £91m, a 660% increase on its £12m earnings for the entirety of 2021.

Three refurbishments in Glasgow, Birmingham and Shrewsbury were completed in the first half ,with at least three further refurbishments planned for the remainder of the current financial year. Two new centres opened in the first half of the year, in Birmingham and Harrow.

Chief executive Stephen Burns said: “The group’s strong balance sheet supports our ability to invest in our organic growth strategy and to pursue further expansionary opportunities.”

He added: “We remain confident in the enduring consumer demand for fun-filled, experiential leisure activities that offer great value for money.”

Hollywood Bowl also said it would be fitting solar panels to 15 of its sites by the end of next year. “We plan to roll out solar panels to more centres in FY2023 and beyond, subject to landlord consents.”
