Hollywood Bowl strikes Birmingham Resorts World leasing deal

Ten-pin bowling operator Hollywood Bowl has signed a 15-year lease for a 26,000 sq ft venue at Genting’s Resorts World Birmingham at the NEC.

The venue will feature 17 bowling lanes, including four “VIP” lanes, a bar, diner and amusements area.

Work is due to be completed by December, allowing the venue to open for the Christmas holidays.

The deal forms part of Genting UK’s strategy to diversify the complex’s offer with more mixed leisure, entertainment and retail.

Jason Kirsch, operations director at Resorts World, said: “Welcoming Hollywood Bowl to Resorts World forms part of our strategy to further strengthen our leisure offer. Resorts World sits within the UK’s premier destination for exhibitions and events and this will add to the attraction and support the NEC Group’s proposed masterplan.

“To be home to the market leading bowling operator is a major component in providing our visitors with a wide-ranging and first-class entertainment experience.”

Laurence Keen, chief financial officer at Hollywood Bowl Group, said securing “another prime, high footfall destination” will enable the operator to “ continue to execute [its] new venue opening strategy”.

Resorts World opened in 2015 as a retail and leisure destination including outlet shopping, bars and restaurants, cinema, hotel and casino.

Colliers and Realm are retained hospitality and leisure leasing agents for Genting Group for Resorts World.
