Government will move away from concentrating housebuilding in the South East, new housing secretary Michael Gove told an audience at the Conservative Party conference.
Gove promised to invest in the regeneration of inner city areas, with more homes built on “neglected brownfield sites”.
“If you really, really want to help those who are currently in rented accommodation and want to own their own homes, then the focus should not necessarily be geographically where it has been beforehand,” he said at a Policy Exchange-hosted fringe event.
