Home ownership among young families falls across England

Falling home ownership among young families is not just an issue in London and the southeast, but extends across England, research by the Resolution Foundation shows.

Its figures show home ownership for those in the 25-34 age group has dropped from 55% in 1994 to 20% in 2016 in outer London, but similar falls have taken place elsewhere.

In West Yorkshire, for example, the figure has declined to 30% from 61%, while in Greater Manchester it is 29% as against 59%.
