Home sales fall sharply

Property sales dropped by 7% across England and Wales, to a total of 848,857, research by Lloyds Bank shows.

In some areas the figures were far worse, with both Brent in London and Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire recording a 30% fall in transactions.

Sales declined in all regions, Lloyds Bank’s Andy Mason said. Sales remain significantly below the levels at the height of the last housing boom, despite low interest rates and schemes including help-to-buy, he said.
