Homes England’s interim executive director of markets, partners and places is leaving the organisation to take on a new role at Birmingham City Council.
Paul Kitson will become the council’s strategic director for place, prosperity and sustainability.
Kitson’s previous roles at Homes England include director for high growth areas and new settlements, and he managed its work at Northstowe in Cambridgeshire, securing planning permission for 3,500 homes.
Before joining Homes England in 2020, he worked at the Homes and Community Agency for 10 years. Earlier in his career he worked at Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation and with Moat Homes in Kent and Essex.
“Birmingham City Council has a really clear vision of how new development and regeneration of places can benefit the whole of the city, helping to provide new places to work, live and play in, while also bringing significant new employment to the city,” Kitson said.
Council chief executive Deborah Cadman described Kitson’s experience as “vital” as the team focuses on “driving forward the council’s priorities and long-term vision for the city”.
Last month, Homes England’s chief land and development officer Stephen Kinsella announced that he will leave the agency after more than four years, returning to Barratt Homes as group major projects director.
