Homes England selects developer for Macclesfield scheme

Homes England has appointed Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West to develop 300 homes at the former King’s School campus at Fence Avenue, Macclesfield.

The scheme received consent for detailed plans yesterday, 29 July.

It will provide 30% affordable housing, a boost from initial levels of 20% in the outline planning application.

Homes England acquired the campus from King’s School in August 2018. It leased the site back to the school for two years to provide capital for the build.

The housebuilders will work with Torus, which will develop a proportion of the affordable homes and convert the historic school building into flats.

Construction will begin when King’s School moves to its new campus at the start of the next academic year.
