Honda links with Unipart and brings 300 jobs to Coventry and Paddock Wood, Kent

Japanese car company Honda has picked privately owned car parts group Unipart as its partner in a £63m investment in Britain. The joint venture deal will create 300 jobs in Coventry and Paddock Wood, Kent and will sever Honda’s ties with its former joint venture partner, Rover, by the year 2,000. No government subsidies are involved.

Unipart chief executive John Neill said this was “one of the most significant investments in Britain this year”. He also announced another £19m joint venture with German automotive group Kautex, which will create 125 new jobs at the Coventry plant.
