A Hong Kong-based multi-millionaire has snapped up a £65m penthouse flat in Belgravia, triggered by Boris Johnson’s election victory.
The 9,800 sq ft six-bedroom duplex penthouse, at Belgravia Gate on Grosvenor Crescent, SW1, has been the most expensive penthouse sold so far this year.
The unnamed young buyer, who is in his mid-30s, had initially agreed to buy a “much larger” house in prime central London but withdrew after realising that it needed extensive refurbishment.
He completed the deal with Beauchamp Estates after the Tory election win was confirmed on Friday, paying almost £10m in stamp duty.
The news comes as several residential agents report a wave of multi-million pound deals, unlocked by the outcome of the General Election.
