Tesco recorded a 1.8% fall in sales in the four weeks to December 7, an improvement from the previous period’s 4.2% fall, according to data from Kantar Worldpanel. In the 12 weeks to December 7, sales fell 2.7%.
In contrast, sales at Wm Morrison fell 2.6% in the four-week period, while sales at Sainsbury were down 1.9%.
Fraser McKevitt, head of retail and consumer insight at Kantar, noted it was Tesco’s best performance since June, and that there were “some signs of stabilization.”
