Hortons gets thumbs up for West Midlands industrial hub

Hortons’ proposals for the speculative development of 100,000 sq ft of industrial and warehouse facilities in the West Midlands have been approved.

The £15m scheme, comprising two buildings of 40,000 sq ft and 60,000 sq ft, will be constructed on a five-acre site at Wellington Industrial Estate in Coseley, near junction two of the M5.

The new buildings will be known as Evolution 40 and 60 and feature a secure yard and parking. They will also have access to cycle parking and electric vehicle charging provision and will be serviced by a new two-way estate road.

James Slater, head of building surveying and development at Hortons, said: “Our strategy of investing in the upgrade of existing buildings has been an important factor in attracting new occupiers to the estate, while our redevelopment of Wellington House will also serve local demand for high-quality small business units.”

Wellington House is a former office building on the same estate, which will create a further eight double-height small industrial facilities, which are expected to be available for occupation from Q1 2025.

To date, Hortons has invested in the refurbishment of almost 50% of the existing space at Wellington Industrial Estate, improving the amenity and environmental performance of the facilities.
