The cost of housing asylum seekers in hotels has risen to £8m a day.
The Home Office’s annual report, published yesterday, revealed an increase of nearly half since December, when the prime minister pledged to end the practice.
There were 50,546 migrants being housed in hotels last month, up by 10,000 since December.
