Hotel groups confident as turnover rises

The hotel industry was feeling confident as more than half of hoteliers reported a rise in turnover in the first half of the year and the average room rate in London was just more than £100.

According to a Lloyds TSB survey, the fundamental resurgence in hotels was only briefly shaken by the terror alert on 10 August.

The survey showed 53% of hotel companies reported a rise in turnover in the first half of 2006, while 13% said they had seen a downturn.
