Hotel operators sought for Stoke scheme

Genr8 is seeking operators for two hotels in Stoke-on-Trent’s Central Business District development.

The Manchester-based regeneration company has appointed Christie & Co to source operators for the hotels, which will offer a combined 250 bedrooms.

The development programme will be phased between 2010 and 2017, will comprise a new business quarter for the city. It is also set to include 1.2m sq ft of office, retail and hotel space.

Jon Patrick, head of leisure and development, Christie & Co, said: “Working with Gehl Architects as urban designers and RHWL as master planners for the scheme, we will be looking to produce opportunities that will be of genuine appeal to the branded hotel sector at both the budget and full service levels.

Mike Smith, partner, Genr8, added: “The development will be transformational in terms of its impact on Stoke and the wider area. We aim to raise the bar in terms of quality to enable Stoke to compete on a national level. Quality hotel operators are very much part of this agenda.”
