Hotel win £2m for hotel falling into sea

The owners of a hotel in Scarborough which fell into the sea have won £2m in compensation against the failings of a local council.

The 29-bedroomed Holbeck Hall Hotel collapsed 150ft into the sea four years ago. A judge at the High Court ruled that Scarborough Borough Council was in breach of its duty of care to maintain the supporting land and the undercliff it owned between the hotel grounds and the sea.
