Hounslow drops retail for resi at High Street Quarter

Hounslow Council and Barratt Homes have proposed a 20% cut to the retail space at the High Street Quarter scheme, making way for an uplift in housing.

The partners have applied to axe 24,700 sq ft of retail space from the plans and boost the height, allowing for an additional 60 homes and 13,000 sq ft of new office space.

The amendments to phase two would see the total retail provision fall from 120,500 sq ft to 95,800 sq ft, with the number of homes rising to 588.

Hounslow Council selected Barratt London and David Wilson Homes to deliver the mixed-use town centre scheme in 2014, with plans for the retail, alongside 527 homes and a 10-screen cinema lodged the following year.
