A part-redevelopment of the House of Fraser department store on Oxford Street is to go ahead after councillors voted in favour of plans which would enable a change of use to offices.
Publica Properties has been given permission to turn the building into an office-led scheme, in part by demolishing the sixth and seventh floor and replacing them with a three-storey roof extension that would include new terraces and a new restaurant.
Other improvements include new shop fronts at ground level, restoration of the stone facade and adding urban greening on the roof.
Westminster recommended the application for approval, meaning Publica can move ahead with the £100m scheme.
Publica Properties acquired the building in 2014, paying around £188m to Legal & General Assurance Society, according to the Land Registry.
