House of Lords hears details of staff claims against Philip Green

Sir Philip Green grabbed women’s breasts, slapped their bottoms and grabbed their thighs, according to allegations revealed in the House of Lords yesterday.

Hundreds of grievance cases against the businessman were raised by staff, said Lord Hain, who used parliamentary privilege again to share more details of the sexual abuse and racism claims.

In the Lords the Labour peer defended his decision in October to name Sir Philip as the man behind a legal injunction preventing The Daily Telegraph from publishing allegations against him of racist and sexist treatment of workers.

Separately, the FT reports that landlords and the Pension Regulator are pushing Philip Green to improve the terms of his planned restructuring for Arcadia, demanding a far bigger injection of cash from the retail baron.

According to documents sent to creditors and seen by the FT, £40m of the £50m that Sir Philip pledged as additional equity will be used to compensate landlords subjected to rent cuts, rather than invested in the business.

And the Guardian tracks Green down to to tax-free Monaco, where he is preparing to host a lavish party aboard his £100m superyacht during this weekend’s grand prix, while his “19,000 employees fear for their future as his Arcadia retail empire attempts to engineer a rescue deal.”
