House prices fell 1.1% on the month in September amid sharply lower interest from potential buyers, according to figures from Haart.
The company urged the government to overturn recent stamp duty changes. Action is needed to reverse the sluggish pace of activity, Haart’s chief executive, Paul Smith, said. Stamp duty charges are without doubt causing a log-jam.
The number of homes for sale was 2.3% lower on the year, while viewings fell 10.3%, the company said.
