The average house price in the UK has fallen 0.4%, or £1,000, since the beginning of the year, figures from Zoopla show.
The largest falls have been in the south west, where prices are down 0.6%. In contrast, prices in Wales are up 0.4%. On the year prices were 1.4% higher at the end of March.
This is positive news for first-time buyers, Lawrence Hall of Zoopla said. The resilience of the Welsh market, which has often lagged that of England and Scotland, is encouraging.
