North West housebuilder Wainhomes has bought 20 development sites from English China Clays for £24.45m.
The fact that 15 of these sites are in Devon and Cornwall means that Wainhomes becomes the biggest housebuilder in the region. The company plans to open a new regional office in Okehampton, Devon.
Planning consents exist for a combined total of 2,045 new homes across all 20 sites. The Devon and Cornwall sites have consents for 1,500 homes.
The landbank encompasses a full range of housing types, from retirement homes in Truro to executive homes on the outskirts of Plymouth.
