Housebuilders are building unattractive, unaffordable houses, leading many people to oppose new developments, the chief executive of Shelter, Polly Neate, has warned.
A new way of building homes is needed that listens to local people to build the high quality and genuinely affordable homes they need, she said.
Only 13% of the 3,500 people surveyed on the subject felt developers listened to them, and some 60% said they would be more likely to back new developments if they were listened to.
