Housing market bounces back as mortgage rates stay low despite rate hike

Homebuyers may be relieved to learn that the Bank of England’s interest rate hike in November has not affected mortgage costs.

Mortgage approvals bounced back in January as borrowers and banks shrugged off the base rate hike from 0.25% to 0.5%.

Last month 67,478 mortgage applications were approved, the Bank of England said, which is the highest number in six months.
