Hunters plans new HQ and franchise expansion

York-based Hunters Property Group, the residential estate agency, is to spend £5m on a new headquarters building as the company plans a major expansion.

The new HQ will be a four-storey, 20,000 sq ft building at the Helmsley Group’s 4-acre, £12m Heworth Green project in York.

Alongside office accommodation it will also incorporate 1,000 sq ft of A2 space, a crèche, coffee bar and gym.

Helmsley is developing the site in conjunction with housebuilder Persimmon and will eventually comprise 60,000 sq ft of office space and 170 homes.

Heworth Green has reserved matters planning consent, but detailed planning for the Hunters HQ will be sought in June.

The site is on land formerly occupied by Transco on the north eastern edges of York city centre.

Hunters has 10 offices at present nine in Yorkshire and one in Manchester.

In February it launched an arm offering estate agent franchises under its branding and hopes to licence 1,000 branches in the UK over the next decade.

Keith Hollinrake, co-founding director of Hunters, said: “The company has grown considerably since we were founded in 2002 and we felt it was time to put down some permanent roots”.
