US group Hyatt Hotels has bought the Hyatt Regency Birmingham, the hotel it manages in the city, for close to £27m.
Hyatt has acquired the 319-bedroom Hyatt Regency Birmingham from administrators at Ernst & Young. The group currently operates the hotel on a management contract.
Ernst & Young was appointed administrator to the hotel in June 2011 after investor Gulshan Bhatia and her son Asif lost control of it.
The next month, the pair’s Waldorf hotel in London, WC2, which is leased to Hilton, was placed into the hands of administrators at KPMG.
Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels advised Ernst & Young.
