IDEO in at refurbished Clerkenwell offices

European real estate fund manager Ærium has agreed lease terms with global design firm IDEO for it to take two floors at Ærium’s newly refurbished Herbal House in Clerkenwell, EC1.

IDEO is taking 8,558 sq ft, comprising the entire 6th and 7th floors of the 10-storey, 115,000 sq ft block, as the new home of its London business.

Crossrail will open a stop in Clerkenwell later this year.

The building was the former home of the Daily Mirror print works and the London School of Printing & Graphic Arts, as well as the location for photo and video shoots for the Rolling Stones, Michael Caine and Robert Palmer.

Ærium acquired the building in 2012 and has carried out a comprehensive refurbishment in partnership with development manager Allied London.

This is the second letting at the property following an agreement for a 10-year lease across 37,000 sq ft to Photobox.

Robin Carr, co-chief investment officer at Ærium, said: “Herbal House provides an inspirational work space in a thriving part of London’s design scene.”

Luis Cilimingras, partner and managing director at IDEO London, said: “Herbal House is an environment that’s creative and contemporary and that perfectly fits our culture and work style.

“We will create a welcoming and dynamic studio to host a diverse network of designers, technologists and business people.”

Mallam London acted for IDEO; JLL acted for Aerium.
