IHG focuses on expansion

Intercontinental Hotels Group will turn its focus to expanding the business more quickly, by buying and launching new brands, chief executive Keith Barr said.

The group is looking to launch a new brand in the US, positioned around 10%-15% lower in price terms than its Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands. The brand could also be taken to other regions.

Also under consideration is a luxury label positioned above the Intercontinental brand.
