The Institute for Health Services Management warned in a study that the private finance initiative’s continued failure could see capital funding in the National Health Service fall by more than one fifth by the end of the century. More than 25 hospital schemes worth £20m each have received treasury approval and three have agreed commercial terms but none have agreed all aspects of a deal.
