Ikea will open the latest of at least 10 planned smaller city-centre stores in the UK, in Ashton, near Manchester, in October.
The Financial Times says the UK has proved the one exception in Ikea’s apparently unstoppable expansion.
The group’s growth ambitions have struggle with stringent planning regulations. It plans to expand seven of its UK stores to ease pressure on the crowded outlets.
