Imry proposes 30% increase in retail floorspace at Shires Shopping Centre in Leicester, East Midlands

Imry is considering expanding its Shires shopping centre in Leicester city centre by 30% to 60,385 sq m (650,000 sq ft).

Imry director Mark Kinkead confirmed that once the second anchor unit at West Quay in Southampon is let, he will turn his attention to expanding the Shires.

There are two options for expanding the Shires. The first is to expand onto the High Street while the second would mean expanding onto Humberstone Gate. Kinkead has indicated that expanding onto the High Street was his preferred option.

Two years ago, the Shires underwent a 4,366 sq m (47,000 sq ft) expansion which created a new entrance on Church Gate. The units were pre-let to Virgin and Waterstones.
