Great Scotland Yard in Whitehall, SW1, is to be transformed into a five-star hotel after a £110m deal between Galliard Homes and Lulu Group International, the Abu Dhabi-based company run by Indian billionaire Yusuffali Kader.
The deal will see a 92,000 sq ft hotel created within the refurbished Edwardian building at 1-5 Great Scotland Yard, originally home to the Scotland Yard Police Station and the British Army recruitment HQ.
Between 1829 and 1890 the building was the headquarters of the new Metropolitan Police force.
Steigenberger Hotel Group has been selected to operate the Great Scotland Yard hotel under its Signature brand.
The deal comes after Galliard received a £225m from US fund Cain Hoy and a £50m investment from Singaporean Oxley Holdings.
The refurbishment will retain the Edwardian brick and stone facade, with the interior receiving a £50m revamp. An adjoining Grade II listed Victorian townhouse will be incorporated into the hotel as an entertainment suite.
The most expensive suite in the seven storey hotel could rent for up to £10,000 per night.
It is set to open in Q1 2017.
