Industry bodies unite with Tories to amend Planning Bill

Industry bodies have joined forces with the Conservative Party to push through a “wish list” of amendments to the Planning & Compulsory Purchase Bill, which went to committee this week.

The RICS, the CBI and the BPF have been working with Tory planning spokesman Geoffrey Clifton-Brown and Tory MP Sir Sydney Chapman, who both sit on the 18-member Parliamentary Built Environment Group. Both are members of the RICS.

The industry groups want to remove clauses in the bill that would scrap “twin-track” planning applications and replace outline applications with “statements of principles”.
