Inflation will not hit 2% before 2026, warns Goldman Sachs

Inflation will not fall to 2% for another three years, Goldman Sachs has warned.

The investment bank said interest rates would climb above 5% in the meantime.

The forecast is rather more gloomy than the Bank of England’s own prediction this month, that inflation would fall by the middle of 2025. However, it suggests that the government will be able to claim it has halved inflation by the end of 2023.
