Influential JR Eve equity partner Montague dies

Former JR Eve equity partner Jack Montague has died aged 84.

Montague joined JR Eve on his discharge from the army in 1947. His work included compensation and rating.

He was also a leading figure in minerals valuations, and was involved in making the Town & Country Planning Act applicable to minerals. Montague worked with the government to produce the first mineral regulations.

He retired in 1987.

John Trustram Eve, former senior partner at JR Eve and now a consultant at GVA Grimley, said that Montague was “one of the more important post-war thinkers in general practice”.
