Inland Homes wins Staines scheme appeal

Inland Homes has won its battle against Spelthorne Borough Council over a 206-home scheme in Staines town centre, Surrey, after the Planning Inspectorate upheld an appeal from the developer.

Spelthorne Borough Council previously refused to grant consent for construction at the brownfield site in June, despite a planning officer’s recommendation for approval.

Stephen Wicks, chief executive of Inland Homes, said: “This successful appeal decision on a derelict brownfield site in Staines town centre is very pleasing for Inland. The development will include 70 much-needed affordable homes and is exactly the type of scheme where we can make a meaningful contribution to housing delivery in a sustainable way.”

The Staines scheme is part of Inland Homes’ asset management division, which secures sites and planning approvals on behalf of investors.
