Inquiry to begin into plans for Edinburgh luxury hotel

An inquiry is due to begin today into plans to redevelop Edinburgh’s Old Royal High School into a luxury hotel.

Duddingston House Properties is appealing against a decision by councillors to deny permission for the redevelopment amid claims it could put the city’s Unesco world heritage status at risk.

The inquiry is expected to last several months.
