Insolvency Service seeks ready space in Birmingham

The Insolvency Service (IS) is looking for a regional HQ in Birmingham city centre.

The government department, an executive agency of the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform, is eyeing several high-profile office blocks in the city for a 50,000 sq ft requirement.

The department, which is looking for ready-to-let space, is considering Targetfollow’s Baskerville House, Nurton Development’s Priory and Canon House, and West Midlands Metropolitan Authorities Pension Fund’s 35 Newhall Street.

The Insolvency Service is based in the 58,000 sq ft Ladywood House, where it has a break in its lease in June 2008.

Ladywood House – a 1970s office block that sits next to The Pallasades shopping centre – will be refurbished as part of the £500m New Street station redevelopment plan.

King Sturge is advising the Insolvency Service.
