Countryside Properties has won its battle to build more than 350 houses on a site in Lancaster after a planning inspector overturned a council decision to block the scheme.
A public inquiry was held into Countryside’s proposals for the 10-acre former Williamson’s factory site in January, having been turned down by Lancaster council almost a year earlier.
The inspector concluded that the proposals by Countryside Properties would have considerable advantages for regenerating the area.
The Secretary of State supported the decision.
