The Instant Group, a flexible office consultancy, has launched what it claims is the first sustainability index for the market.
The company said the index will validate sustainability data for flexible workspace providers, and can be used by operators and occupiers to track buildings’ sustainability initiatives.
Sam Pickering, head of sustainability at The Instant Group, said: “Sustainability has unquestionably become a business imperative. With companies working more flexibly and real estate accounting for between 28% and 40% of carbon emissions globally, we believe that flex space forms a significant part of the net-zero strategy for the built environment.”
The initiative, which already covers 3,000 workspaces, has launched with operator Landmark as a founding partner.
