Gestetner, a company well known for their duplicity (no, that cannot be right!), have launched a new instant lettering system, which is claimed to be the most advanced yet. Gestetner state that it is smaller, faster, more portable, quieter, lighter and easier to work than practically any other lettering machine on the market.
Lettering is made by tapping out the characters on the system’s keyboard and pressing the print button. Within seconds the lettered strip is ejected from a slot at the side of the machine, ready for immediate use. It produces permanent quality messages on adhesive backing strips.
At the heart of the system are the Character Font Cards. They are no bigger than ordinary 35mm slides, but, with built-in microchip intelligence, contain all the lettering information for a complete font of 135 characters and symbols. Priced at £1,150 (excl VAT) the package comes with principal keyboard unit, mains adaptor and plug, but also an introductory Starter Kit comprising one box of four cassettes of black-on-clear tape, an extra Character Font Card of Times 24pt, and a Font Module for holding up to eight different fonts in the system.
