Intercontinental plans 48 new hotels

InterContinental-Hotels-generic-THUMB.jpegIntercontinental Hotels committed to 48 new hotels last year, including 16 in the UK, bringing its European pipeline to 114 hotels.

The company’s final results show profit before tax of £390.6m for the 12 months ending 31 December 2014, which was unchanged from the previous year.

The UK was one of the strongest performing markets, with RevPAR rising 8.9%, low double-digit growth in the provinces and high single-digit growth in London.

As part of Intercontinental Hotels’ streamlining initiative, most hotels in the UK will be transferred to franchise contracts in 2015.

Over the year the number of hotels franchised, managed, owned or leased by the company rose by 143 hotels to 4,840 hotels.
