Intier changes gear with Rainham relocation

Intier Automotive Interiors is to relocate its manufacturing operation to Sheerness Produce Terminal in Rainham, in one of Kents largest industrial deals for a decade.

Intier, which supplies parts for UK and European car manufacturers, has taken a 145,000 sq ft (13,470 sq m) unit at the site for 15 years. The site, owned by Mersey Docks & Harbour Company, commands a rent of around £5.50 per sq ft (£59 per sq m).

The company will to move the operation from premises in Lenham in Kent.

Alex Gale, of Colliers CRE, Intiers adviser, said: “Over the last decade Kent has had a lack of stock of this size, and sites which were available didnt offer the lease flexibility required, a situation that still exists in this location.”

Intier has signed for a 15,500 sq ft (1,440 sq m) sequencing centre at Yendons Kingsway Industrial Park on the A38 in Derby.

Intier has taken a seven-year lease for the centre from which it will provide components for the Toyota plant at Burnaston.

Watson Day and Cushman & Wakefield Healey & Baker advised Mersey Docks & Harbour Company. Salloways represented Yendon.
