Intu has won planning permission from Nottingham city council for the redevelopment of the Broadmarsh shopping centre.
Planning was submitted in April to improve the centre’s retail and leisure facilities. Proposals included an increased range of places to eat, from grab-and-go to sit-down restaurants, and a multi-screen cinema.
Intu owns two-thirds of the Broadmarsh centre, with Nottingham city council owing the remainder and the freehold of the land.
The approved work forms part of a £150m investment by Intu and Nottingham city council in the Broadmarsh area, including refurbishment of the car park and bus station, alongside public realm improvements.
Intu regional director Martin Breeden said: “We’re delighted that our plans for intu Broadmarsh have received approval. Along with our work at intu Victoria Centre, we now have a great opportunity to create something special for Nottingham. We look forward to working together with the council to move the project forward.”
