Investec launches £250m UK strategy

Investec has launched a new UK real estate equity strategy, aiming to deploy £250m in the next two years.

Investec REALIS will see the group commit equity to each acquisition alongside investors, with deals targeting asset development or repositioning, as well as distressed transactions.

The strategy is led by Yon Papageorgiou, head of real estate equity investments, who joined Investec in August 2022 from TwentyTwo Real Estate.

Its first deal is the acquisition of 255 High Street, a recently refurbished, 45,500 sq ft grade-A office in Guildford.

Papageorgiou said: “UK commercial real estate is witnessing an unprecedented repricing moment and, along with a currency advantage, offers global investors a compelling entry point.

“Closing this first acquisition, in one of our high conviction sectors, is a significant milestone. With a £150m near-term pipeline, we look forward to accelerating our AUM growth in 2024.”
